"Krone" report from Athens

In the command center of the fight against smuggling

In summer, more migrants take the dangerous sea route across the Mediterranean due to the calm sea. No country has rescued as many as Greece and its coastguard. The "Krone" accompanied Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg to the anti-smuggling command center in the port of Athens.

Dozens of nautical charts, radar systems, screens on which escape routes are plotted. Color-coded depending on how busy they are. Here, in the largest of the Greek Coast Guard's three facilities, is the command center for combating smuggling across the Mediterranean.
