More and more Viennese have an addiction problem

The consequences of coronavirus, creeping impoverishment and fears about the future are causing Viennese people to increasingly turn to addictive substances. This is also having an impact on rescue operations. The main drop-in center for addicts is Jedmayer on Gumpendorfer Straße. But more services are needed. 

According to the 2023 report on drug-related crime, the situation is relatively stable across the country (we reported) - but a look at the activity report of Suchthilfe Wien paints a different picture. The figures are a tragedy, especially when compared to the past four years. They show that more and more Viennese have a problem with both legal and illegal drugs.
