Nothing works in the capital without Wiener Stadtwerke. Public transport, energy, even death are in their hands. This year, Stadtwerke will be 75 years old. A look at Vienna's backbone.

The day begins with a warm shower. The subway takes us to work - ideally cooled in summer and heated in winter. The same applies to our own apartment when we come home in the evening and marvel at the city lights or watch the news without the lights flickering due to power fluctuations. All these everyday conveniences are thanks to the invisible but indispensable work of Wiener Stadtwerke.
