Roman Schigun is 31 years old and grew up in the Russian capital Moscow. After the partial mobilization began in September 2022, he fled to Israel - where he witnessed another outbreak of war. Roman and I (the author of the article) met ten years ago at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He stood out for his talent, diligence and dedication, and everyone was sure that a great career awaited him in Moscow. But things turned out differently. Roman has been in Tel Aviv since October 2022, just 75 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.
