“Rugby is more important to me than my driver’s license”
Caspar Gabriel left home at the age of 14 to play rugby in Ireland. Since then, the now 18-year-old has blossomed into one of the top talents in the playmaker position, has become a sought-after commodity and has already played for the Irish U19 national team. Born in Vienna, he subordinates everything to his dream of becoming a professional rugby player and even rides his bike in the Irish rain.
At a junior rugby tournament in Ireland four years ago, some of the coaches there became aware of a then 14-year-old from Vienna. Caspar Gabriel really caught their eye with his talent.
