Frustration among patients
No more preventive check-ups at the health insurance fund
There is currently great frustration among Carinthians who want to have a preventive check-up at the Austrian Health Insurance Fund. The health insurance company now only refers patients to private practices.
A "Krone" reader experienced a gauntlet run in recent months at the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) in Carinthia. "I called them last November to make an appointment for a check-up," says the Carinthian woman. But she was put off from month to month. "They always told me that it would be possible to make an appointment again next month." When the Carinthian tried her luck again this month, she got the bad news: "We're not giving out any more appointments this year." The "Krone" confronted the health insurance company with the case:
