Without the 46-year-old Tyrolean, nothing would have worked at the Signa Group: confidential documents show how deeply involved the founder was in the day-to-day business.

On Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor's Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption confirmed official investigations into René Benko. The Signa founder is said to have been involved in a loan extension of 25 million euros with Schelhammer Capital Bank in the summer.
