Observing wild animals and birds is becoming increasingly popular with Austrians. But what is the fascination that draws more and more people out into nature with binoculars and cameras? 

"Birden", or birdwatching, is all the rage. Whether in the garden, at the feeding station or in the mountains. "More and more people are finding a relaxing balance in our wonderful natural and bird world by observing our feathered friends," says the renowned and sought-after bird expert and wildlife photographer Dietmar Streitmaier, who promptly took the "Bergkrone" on a birdwatching tour.
