It will take months to clear up the affair at the Brucknerhaus in Linz: In the meantime, there is plenty to do to get the floundering cultural steamship back on course: The mayor and new managing director are working on the program for the 50th anniversary celebrations.

It is a cultural misery in many respects: the accusations made against the artistic director and head of the Brucknerhaus are reaching their climax just as the cultural institution celebrates its 50th anniversary. As reported, Dietmar Kerschbaum is said to have used the German art management agency "Opus 3" to line his own pockets when drawing up the program - which he was officially permitted to do by taking on sideline activities. But the picture is highly fatal.
