Combustion engines: People’s Party puts von der Leyen on notice
Originally, the EU Commission had planned to no longer allow new vehicles with combustion engines from 2035 and to rely 100% on e-cars. Now e-cars, of all things, are to blame for the fact that this will not happen. Krone+ documents how the previously enthusiastic Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (EPP) was actually sidelined by her own party ranks.
The "Krone" had already reported: E-cars, of all things, should no longer be classified as climate-neutral because they are clearly not emission-free. In addition to the new, recognized figures from the EU Commission, this is supported by a well-founded study that shows how incredibly long an e-car has to drive to be considered as climate-friendly as a petrol car in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. This bitter realization initiated the turnaround. And now the land of laptops and lederhosen as well as thinkers and poets is making it official.
