When the presumed dead are not found for a long time after a mountain accident, it is extremely stressful for the relatives. A local father of several children has been buried under meters of snow in the Pitztal valley in Tyrol since Christmas. We show what the rescue teams are doing and when they stop searching.

Flashback to December 23, 2023: A man from Pitztal (46) wants to go for a short ski tour on the Kaunergrat in St. Leonhard. At avalanche warning level 4, a dust avalanche suddenly breaks loose from the mighty Rofelewand (3353 m). It buries the athlete at an altitude of around 2000 meters between the Arzler Alm and the Rappenkopf.
