Two superstars of the opera world open the Ball of Balls at Haus am Ring: we asked Latvian soprano Elīna Garanča and Polish tenor Piotr Beczała to join us in advance for an extremely amusing interview about pink panthers, nights of love together and throwing flowers.

"Krone": A question to warm you up. What do you prefer to dance, a midnight quadrille or a waltz?
Elīna Garanča: (laughs) Well, if anything, then a waltz. Once a waltz, always a waltz! I can't remember as many steps as in the quadrille.
Piotr Beczała: I prefer the waltz. I'm a practiced waltz dancer. In my job, you always get the opportunity to dance on stage, or to be allowed to.
