They always have one foot in crime, but for a long time they didn't know it. Firefighters were and still are usually out and about illegally when they hang a pump in a pond or stream to practice. And at least once, they overdid it and eventually a fisherman complained. Krone+ reveals the background.

The stream sucked dry, the water sprayed onto the sports field during a fire drill in a dry spell, killing the fish swimming in it - this case in the Mühlviertel region provoked a court dispute between a fisherman and the head of the fire department.
