What Hallstatt wants to do about the masses of tourists

30 percent more guests: this January, the municipality of Hallstatt in Upper Austria, which is very popular with tourists from all over the world, recorded a record number of visitors. Solutions for the masses of tourists are in sight, but controversial. The "Krone" knows the current state of affairs.

Solutions to the mass onslaught from Hallstatt are currently more in demand than ever before, because: "This January we had significantly more day visitors than last year. This is a new record since the start of counting in 2009," says Alexander Scheutz (SP), the mayor of Hallstatt.
