Part 2 of our climate series on the Vienna elections: Vienna wants to become climate-neutral by 2040. A truly Herculean task and a balancing act, also due to the current framework conditions. 

The Viennese are already feeling the effects of climate change first hand. The climate data paints a clear picture: While Vienna recorded around ten hot days per year in the 1990s, the figure is now 33. According to forecasts, it could be 50 hot days by the end of the century. Green spaces and cooler oases are supposed to provide relief, but how quickly can such measures be implemented?
