Who could be at the helm of the Salzburg SPÖ
The Salzburg SPÖ has been adrift for months without a helmsman. Peter Eder, head of the Chamber of Labor, is reluctant to take over the party. But there are certainly other candidates.
David Egger announced his resignation as head of the Salzburg SPÖ in October 2024 and left for Neumarkt at the end of the year after four years as head of the Salzburg SPÖ. Egger is now mayor of his home municipality. There is still no official successor.
Chamber of Labor President and trade union boss Eder has many years of experience, is well-known, popular and feared. He is undoubtedly the most coherent candidate for SPÖ leader, but a few other heads are also conceivable behind him.
