Who will lead the archdiocese if no one leads?

He is one of the leading representatives of the world church: Cardinal Christoph Schönborn turns 80 today and it is safe to assume that Pope Francis will now accept Schönborn's resignation as Archbishop of Vienna. The "thriller" about the succession is likely to continue in the meantime, as the "Krone" has learned that there is another solution and already a name.

The rumor mill is boiling: will it be Bishop Hermann Glettler of Innsbruck, Bernhard Eckerstorfer, Rector of the Benedictine University of Sant' Anselmo in Rome, ex-Caritas President Michael Landau or Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl of Graz - or someone else altogether?
