Fire alarm: fire department rescues the animals

A major fire claimed the lives of several fire departments in Radenthein. Several animals had to be rescued from the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 

Major operation in Radenthein. In the early hours of Saturday morning, several fire departments had to respond to a roof truss fire. "Heavy clouds of smoke could already be seen on the approach," said the emergency services. When they arrived, the entire roof truss of the outbuilding was already on fire.

They immediately began fighting the fire using heavy breathing protection. "The main priority was to protect the directly adjacent residential building," said the fire department. The firefighters from the Radenthein, Untertweng, St. Peter ob Radenthein and Döbriach fire departments were quickly able to bring the fire under control.

Chickens and pigeons were freed from the heavily smoky building in time, wearing heavy breathing protection. It is still unclear why the roof structure went up in flames. The police are investigating. 

The Radenthein, Untertweng, St. Peter ob Radenthein, Döbriach, Bad Kleinkirchheim and Millstatt volunteer fire departments were alerted, as well as a patrol from the Radenthein police station and police fire investigators.
