Mozilla Firefox is 20, but no reason to celebrate
In November 2004, the first version of the Mozilla Firefox Internet browser was released - and won the hearts of Internet users who were suffering from compatibility problems with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Five years later, Firefox was the most important browser alongside Microsoft's and was running on every third PC. On its 20th birthday, however, little is left of this success. Today, Firefox only runs on less than a tenth of computers, and the alternative never really got off the ground on smartphones. Firefox went from being the second most important browser to an endangered species. And it is now fighting on its own against the dominance of the internet giant Google, which has not only stolen customers from Microsoft and Mozilla with its Chrome browser.
