Born prematurely: “We fought for every day”

Premature babies Lina and Lara weighed just over 1000 grams when they were born - a little more than a packet of flour. The "Krone" spoke to the parents about saying goodbye every day, night-time phone calls and feeding tubes and about how the brave heroines fought their way into life.

"We imagined everything to be completely different," says Nicole Hurnaus (30) when she talks about the birth of her twins Lara and Lina. Early on in her pregnancy, the 30-year-old often has to go for check-ups, as the girls share a placenta. They are constantly checked to make sure they are well cared for - until the 29th week of pregnancy.
