Gatekeeper traffic light goes into operation with a delay

Piesendorf had to wait longer than predicted for the long-awaited traffic jam solution. Nothing happened over the summer. The new schedule: Trial operation starts in mid-November. 

The traffic circle in the Piesendorf district of Fürth is considered a bottleneck. Especially during rush hour, when commuters from the Oberpinzgau region stream towards Zell am See, and during vacation shift changes, there are regular traffic jams on Mittersiller Straße (B168). For commuters, the situation is sometimes unacceptable. And in winter in particular, buses are delayed.

Model has proven its worth in Eugendorf
Gatekeeper traffic lights based on the Eugendorf model should now provide a remedy. In the event of increased traffic volumes, traffic lights at different entrances will switch to red in phases. In June, a test run was announced for the summer. But nothing came of it. The traffic lights have only just been installed. Markings on the traffic circle have just been renewed and caused traffic jams again.

The new timetable: "Test operation will start in mid-November," according to the office of state vice-president Stefan Schnöll. The reason for the delay was delays in the delivery of the traffic light system.

In Piesendorf, the hope is that this will at least be met. Mayor Bernhard Auernigg (ÖVP): "The traffic planners say that it will make things easier. The first few weeks will show whether this is the case."
