Brain still active for a long time: what we experience in death
One of the great mysteries of mankind is its end: how we die has probably preoccupied us since the beginning. Many people who have already crossed the threshold into the realm of death - from a medical point of view - and yet found their way back to life have reported near-death experiences. Researchers have now discovered something new.
The typical going into the light or leaving one's body and looking down on it: Many "returnees" report near-death experiences like these. Or are they just hallucinations? In any case, a recent study showed that brain activity can increase significantly in dying people. And above all: that the brain can recover from death for far longer than previously assumed. A research study by scientists at New York University has now demonstrated this once again.
