The “dead” live a little longer after all

The merger club 1. FC Saßtal is shaking up the Styrian Regional League South! The club didn't even exist in this form until recently. In the match of the round, things got exciting for the successor club to former regional league side Mettersdorf in the derby against Gnas II in the district.

Looking back: It was a bombshell when USV Mettersdorf announced in May 2023 that it would cease playing in the regional league for financial reasons. The club seemed dead. Months later, the decision was made to join forces with USV Weinburg and merge. A new soccer chapter was started in the Gebietsliga Süd under the name 1. FC Saßtal.
