“The desire for new construction alone is not enough for demolition”

In August 2025, the railroad workers' housing estate in the city of Salzburg is to be razed to the ground - if the Linz-based housing association EBS has its way. The head of Salzburg's tenants' association, Edtbrustner, explains to the "Krone" whether and how this is possible and what tenants can do.

An information event held by the owner in the Wifi building in spring came as a shock to the remaining tenants in the housing estate in Salzburg-Neustadt: EBS, a Linz-based housing association that had once built subsidized rental apartments, informed the residents that the housing estate would be demolished in August 2025.
