Everyone agrees: Vienna needs more police

"We take the concerns of the population seriously and can do something about them", explained Police Director Michael Takacs about the latest large-scale operation against crime in Vienna. Even more could be done, he agreed with Mayor Michael Ludwig: with more officers. The political battle for this is getting tougher.

So if the federal police, provincial police directorate and city hall agree that Vienna needs more police officers - what is the problem? From the point of view of the police, the cat is biting its own tail with the current recruitment offensive in Vienna: the job opportunities also attract candidates from the provinces, who sooner or later return there.
