Following scandals involving mayors in Lower Austria, there are calls for reform of municipal auditing. Who wants it and who doesn't. And why nothing will come of it. 

Local leaders who made a fortune from property speculation, forged invoices - municipal offices in Lower Austria have recently been rocked by a number of scandals. This is why the SPÖ and Neos want the auditors of the provincial audit office to keep a close eye on local politicians in future. This requires an amendment to the provincial constitution.
