"This is once again typical of the provincial government when it plans an attack on taxpayers in Tyrol. Black-Red believe they can camouflage and cover up something like this from the public, but once again they have done the math without us," says Neos club chairman Dominik Oberhofer angrily.

100 percent surcharge for waste disposal fees
In future, the municipalities will be able to charge a 100 percent surcharge for waste disposal fees - previously a municipality could only pass on a maximum of a 50 percent surcharge to its citizens.

No wonder more and more municipalities have less and less money.

"The trend has been going on for some time. More and more tasks are being passed on to the mayors without any financial compensation. This is a way of protecting the state budget and shifting the problem to another level. No wonder more and more municipalities have less and less money," says Oberhofer. In the end, however, it is the citizens of the municipality who end up paying more waste disposal fees.

"We will fight back"
Of course, the provincial government does not see this as an attack on taxpayers. The increased surcharge would only serve to build up reserves for future buildings. "However, the fact is that waste disposal charges could rise drastically for individual citizens. We will fight back," concludes Tyrolean Neos leader Dominik Oberhofer.
