How the SPÖ is now taking a “new” approach to migration

The SPÖ is - once again - in the discovery phase when it comes to the issue of migration. As the "Krone" has learned, the internal summit is to take place on June 22 in Vienna. Who is to take part, which two camps there are on the topic and what could emerge at the end of the planned rehashing of the Kaiser-Doskozil paper. 

It is probably no coincidence that the Social Democrats turned right before the EU elections. The head of the parliamentary group, Philip Kucher, supported German SPD Chancellor Olaf Scholz's proposal to deport serious criminals to Afghanistan and Syria in future, despite the war raging there. What was needed were "very clear consequences, starting with long prison sentences and ending with deportations".
