The fear of wolves as a constant companion: farmers who drive their animals up to the mountain pastures during the summer can tell you a thing or two about it. They are now to be helped with a new pilot project for better herd protection.

Emil Franz Ehmann's day also begins at sunrise. Using binoculars, he slowly lets his gaze wander from right to left. "All the animals are roughly where they should be - that's good," says the dairyman in a first quick assessment. The coffee can be drunk in peace.
