Car, train, flight: what inspectors are (not) allowed to do

Security first: Checks in various areas are not always pleasant.

Recently, a colleague was annoyed: his car's sticker had expired for a day - and he had already been caught by an inspector, and the fine was severe. "Is an inspector allowed to do that?" the colleague asked indignantly. Which basically prompted us to ask: road traffic, rail, air - which ticket inspectors in which area are actually allowed to do what?

As far as road traffic is concerned, the answer is simple: especially in the local cities, parking enforcement and road supervision staff are worth their weight in gold as support for the police in monitoring and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
