Once upon a time, strict governesses in royal houses ensured that the little ones were drilled and kept in order. The new generation of princes and princesses enjoy closeness, love, lots of time and appreciation.

The situation, even though it happened 70 years ago, still touches the heart: little Prince Charles was just 5 when he eagerly awaited his mother at the train station in London. Elizabeth was already on the throne, finally returning after a six-month Commonwealth tour. When she saw her first-born, however, there was no heartfelt embrace or even tears of joy, just a formal, polite handshake.
