Soup for a good cause
Zwettl Abbey School “cooked” to help children
Everyone pulled together: pupils and teachers from the Zwettl Abbey Music and Creative Middle School cooked and sold soup. Many enjoyed a plate for a good cause.
During a project day for a good cause, the Waldviertel music and creative middle school Stift Zwettl "cooked itself": Under the guidance of cookery teacher Maria Salzer and religion teacher Susanna Haslinger, pupils volunteered to make a garlic cream soup and a typical Waldviertel potato soup and offered them to pupils and teachers at lunchtime for three euros per plate.
560 euros for a good cause
Now the organizers sat down to do a cash count: they were able to make a profit of 560 euros from the tasty soup, which will be donated to the Kinderburg Rappottenstein, also in the Zwettl district. There, the Red Cross enables children and families affected by the disaster to come to terms with severe strokes of fate.
"I am very proud of our school - it was a team effort by almost every pupil and teacher. They worked together for a good cause," says Headmaster Eric Schilcher, who is delighted with the "heart education" at his school.
