Young Styrians dance differently: discos in crisis

The coronavirus pandemic has also had a lasting impact on the nightlife of young Styrians. Discos are struggling with dwindling partygoers. People are still partying - but often differently.

On the dance floors of Styrian discos, the ranks are thinning out - or getting older. The classic nightlife scene is undergoing radical change. Many cult venues, where generations of young people were "socialized" for nightlife, have closed or are only open less frequently. For example, the lights went out at the former Bollwerk in Niklasdorf (last operated under the name Sixty) at the beginning of the year. La Noche in Gralla in southern Styria has only been open on Saturdays since the end of January.
