ENT department shrinks to 8-hour outpatient clinic

The rumors have been confirmed: The ENT department at Mistelbach Regional Hospital will be "closed down" - it will remain an eight-hour outpatient clinic. What this means for a specialist hospital, where delicate operations will be performed in future, and what dangers could become acute here.

"Work interruption - please come to the meeting" was the order of the day on Tuesday morning in the ENT department at Mistelbach Regional Hospital. The department staff were officially informed of the next steps - followed by an internal letter, which is available to the "Krone": Risky operations will be scaled down and will end on April 14; from May 1, operations will be reduced to a day outpatient clinic. Bad news not only for the staff, but also for concerned citizens.
