Portrait of a brave woman
“It’s a crime to make dogs bite”
Courageous. That's the first word that comes to mind when you think of Anna Schmidbauer from Graz. The well-known dog trainer was one of the first to call for a ban on protection work for private dog owners after the fatal attack on a female jogger in Upper Austria - knowing full well what a hot potato she was touching.
Anna is charismatic, engaging, unconventional and: Her flock of fans attest to the Graz native that she thinks like a dog herself and therefore brings all problem animals "on a level playing field". This in turn makes the 35-year-old from Graz smile. It has nothing to do with superpowers. Rather, she explains, she understands their body language and signals, "which anyone can learn and which is immensely important in dealing with animals correctly. They talk to us - we just have to understand their language."
