Whether as a monarch in the satirical show "Wir sind Kaiser" or as a cabaret artist on stage, Robert Palfrader has always shown his humorous side. The 55-year-old spoke to "Krone" about his new seriousness, his spiritual teacher and dealing with phases of depression.

"Krone": Mr. Palfrader, you will be performing your solo programme "Allein" in Bad Tatzmannsdorf on 9 March. Areyou already looking forward to it?
Robert Palfrader: And how! Firstly, I have family from Burgenland through my uncle Radatz by marriage, my mother's brother-in-law. Secondly, I often spent time with friends in Apetlon, also known as "Obaloa", when I was young. So I know only too well what a Lodiridari, a Returigucker and a Hümmitraktor are - namely a drill, a mirror and a helicopter(laughs). I was also in love with hundreds of beautiful Burgenland women. But none of them have answered me. I can't say what makes them so charming, because I never got that close to any of them. I was only allowed to admire these Madonna-like creatures that floated past me from a distance. But I was only 14 and now, at 55, it's too late because I'm too pale and thin.
