How to tidy up and clear out with kids

Keeping the home neat and tidy is difficult enough for most people. But as many parents know: When you have kids, it's pretty much an impossibility. Or is it? We asked: tidying coach Katrin Miseré knows how to help - from toddlers to teenagers!

If you want to get your offspring on board with tidying up, one thing is important first and foremost: "Involve children at an early age," advises tidying consultant Katrin Miseré. "Children should definitely be allowed to help around the house. Yes, it may be annoying and take longer. But voluntary willingness is not permanent. At some point, this window closes and then it's much more difficult to get cooperation."

That's why: "When children ask if they can help, the answer is always 'yes'," advocates the clean-up coach. "And then you should give them small tasks." With teenagers, however, a different approach is required.
