SV Ried celebrates its first away win of the season. The Upper Austrians turned the game around against WSG Tirol and won 2-1.

SV Ried has secured its first away win of this Bundesliga season. The Innviertel-based team earned a 2-1 (2-1) victory over WSG Tirol in Innsbruck on Saturday. Stefan Schwab, on a penalty kick (15th minute), and Philipp Pomer (43rd minute) scored the goals that secured three points despite an early deficit. Nikolai Baden Frederiksen had put the Wattener team ahead on a free kick (8th minute). With eleven points, Ried moved into the top five in the standings.

WSG coach Philipp Semlic was able to field forward Baden Frederiksen despite his ankle problems, and the Dane immediately demonstrated his threat. Two minutes in, the 26-year-old tested SVR goalie Andreas Leitner with a hard shot from a tight angle, but the Ried captain was there to make the save with his foot. Six minutes later, the duel ended in the striker’s favor: Baden Frederiksen scored on a free kick from about 25 meters out. Leitner got a hand to it but couldn’t prevent the ball from finding the net.

Turns the Tide Before HalftimeThe well-deserved lead, however, didn’t last long: David Gugganig was late in his own penalty area against Evan Eghosa Aisowieren and brought down the Ried player (14th minute). Referee Julian Weinberger immediately pointed to the spot, and Schwab didn’t miss the opportunity, tying the game. The match was now evenly matched; Leitner prevented his team from falling behind with saves against Michael Olakigbe and Baden Frederiksen (39th minute). At the other end, Pomer put the visitors ahead shortly before halftime with a bit of luck and a chip shot.

Right after the restart, Aisowieren scored what appeared to be the 3-1 goal. However, the Ried forward was offside when Ante Bajic played the pass (50th minute), so the VAR disallowed the goal. WSG goalie Salko Hamzic defused a long-range shot by Fabian Rossdorfer (65th minute). The Tyroleans fought back against the looming defeat but remained too inaccurate against the Upper Austrians, who were now sitting deep. Shots by “Joker” Murat Satin (81') and Matthäus Taferner (82') missed the target, as did a header by Hinterseer (93'). WSG thus remains on eight points and has gone three games without a win. In the next round, the Tyroleans will travel to Wolfsberg, while Ried will host Wiener Austria.
