Readers up in arms against new electric car tax
Following the expiry of the electric mobility subsidy , things are about to get even worse for Austrians: on April 1, the tax exemption for electric vehicles will be abolished. Readers have already turned to the "Krone" for help. Will you now pay the same tax for e-cars as for combustion engines? Or even more? We use examples and tables to show what is changing.

As electric buses are a niche market and unfortunately buses are inherently heavier, I can now easily pay two to three times as much for the vehicle per month as before."
Other readers think the change is right: "It's about time this window dressing stopped!" - "They use the roads just as much, so why not? Plus more tire wear due to the weight." - "I think it's only fair." Or: "One person buys an electric car and pays insurance tax. The other buys a combustion engine and pays insurance tax. What's the problem now?"
