Corncrake gives Graz PV planners the “bird”

The city of Graz wants to expand photovoltaics and invest more than 30 million euros in it - but some projects are a source of controversy. Recently, the planned plant in the local recreation area in Andritz had to be called off, and now there is criticism of a PV project at Graz Airport. The bird life is in danger.

The plans to erect a large PV system on a meadow next to Andritzer Kirschenallee recently caused a stir. Last week, the Graz City Hall coalition then pulled the ripcord itself: The project in the water protection and local recreation area will not be realized. However, the city of Graz wants to build by far the largest photovoltaic plant on the Thalerhof airport site.
