The crises in industry and commerce have pushed the ongoing issue of a shortage of skilled workers into the background somewhat - but the development on the labor market is still highly topical. Norbert Königsecker, Managing Director of the Wimberger Group from Lasberg (Upper Austria), fears that models such as elective doctors could be introduced in the future.

Doris Hummer, President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, explained the decline in the number of apprentices in the industry with the crisis and the changed economic conditions, which have resulted in a loss of competitiveness for the export-oriented industry, which in turn has led to cuts in personnel. But does this mean that apprentices in trade and crafts are also suffering such a setback?
