A traffic police check on the Loferer Straße in the Tyrolean lowlands had dire consequences for many a truck driver. The officers caught a number of traffic offenders within 24 hours, including several under the influence of alcohol.

The heavy traffic control operation ran from 6 a.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday and was primarily intended to bring to light violations of the sectoral driving ban on Loferer Straße. In fact, the officers from the Kufstein and Kitzbühel district police commands reported nine truck drivers for violating the driving ban. 

Charges, penalties, driving license confiscations
The police officers were supported by technicians from the Tyrolean provincial government office. A total of 112 heavy goods vehicles were checked within 24 hours, and the officers found fault with 30 of them. Among other things, they recorded 65 violations of driving and rest times, 14 technical defects and four violations relating to missing or insufficient load securing. 

An alcohol test was carried out on all drivers.

Two truck drivers and one female driver were also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. They all had more than 0.8 per mille alcohol in their blood and their driving licenses were confiscated on the spot. A total of twelve drivers had to be banned from continuing their journey, 26 security deposits were collected and 21 administrative penalties were imposed.
