It could have turned out worse: A parked car caught fire directly under the overpass of the Kremser expressway in Tulln. When the fire department arrived, the vehicle was already completely engulfed in flames!

There was certainly no shortage of witnesses who reported the fire on Sunday night. The inferno occurred directly at the exit of the S 33 in the direction of Tulln. A vehicle had caught fire under the bridge of the expressway for unknown reasons. The fire department received the first emergency calls at around 11 pm.

The members of the city fire department raced to the scene via the Bundesstraße 19: there they found a small inferno. "The flames were already shooting out of the wreckage meters high," they said. Why the car had started to burn is still under investigation.

Other vehicles rescued
The volunteers immediately got to work with extinguishing foam to prevent the fire from spreading to cars parked nearby. Fortunately, they succeeded - even though the affected vehicle burned down to the chassis. Firefighters from the Neuaigen cadastral municipality, who were alerted later, took care of removing the foam after the "fire was out".
