Mineral bottles filled with tap water

The water came into the glass containers via a garden hose. Why? In the "Krone", the organizer explains what was behind it.

The European Championships in 3x3 basketball ended on Sunday on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater with a double success. Austria's men surprisingly became European champions, as did the wheelchair team.

The sport was celebrated for four days in front of thousands of spectators and the atmosphere was excellent. On the last day of the match, however, visitors watched as an employee used a garden hose to fill glass bottles of a mineral water brand with tap water.

Water ran out
The "Krone" therefore asked the organizer. "Due to the extreme heat, we ran out of still water on the last day," explained the spokesperson. And so that the thirsty guests didn't have to sit on dry land, it was decided to refill the empty bottles - the manufacturer was also informed - with tap water.

Improvisation instead of cheating
"Unfortunately, we didn't have enough carafes and it wouldn't have been possible to reorder on Sunday afternoon," the story continues. What's more, the tap water was not sold to visitors at a high price, but only served in the VIP area, where everything was free for guests. Improvisation rather than fraud.
