From September 2, millions of Austrians will once again receive their climate bonus. This year, the aim is to get it into their accounts as quickly as possible, probably in time for the National Council elections at the end of September. The "Krone" also took a look at the bonuses currently still available from the government.

The idea behind the climate bonus is not extra money, but compensation, as it is based on the amount of the CO₂ tax. The additional burden imposed on Austrians as a result is to be offset on average by the climate bonus. Since this year, there has also been an innovation: the bonus must be taxed from a gross annual income of 66,612 euros. Taxation is carried out automatically by the tax authorities.
