Paragliding pilot (35) crashed into tree: Injured!

A German paragliding pilot (35) had a scary moment in Landeck on Saturday! She gained too little height after take-off and landed in a treetop shortly afterwards. The woman got stuck 20 meters above the ground and suffered minor injuries. A second pilot broke her ankle.

The German woman from the district of Miesbach started her flight on Saturday in the area of the Krahberg. As she was unable to gain enough height after take-off, she flew a left turn to get away from the slope.

The paraglider subsequently became entangled in the treetop, leaving the pilot hanging about 20 meters above the ground.

According to her own statements, she misjudged the altitude and flew directly towards a row of trees. The 35-year-old crashed into a treetop with her legs first. The woman sustained minor injuries to her left leg. The Landeck mountain rescue team and an Alpine police officer were able to rescue her from her predicament.

Broken bones after landing
The landing approach in Ginzling ended much worse for a 23-year-old local woman on Saturday afternoon. She twisted her foot in a hollow on landing and broke her inner and outer ankle as well as her shin. She was taken to Schwaz district hospital by ambulance.
