The search for a new rector took a year and a half - including numerous complications. Now the search is over: a geology professor and Vice-Rector of the University of Innsbruck, with many human and professional qualities, is taking over the helm. And he has big plans.
After a year and a half of searching, the University of Salzburg has a new rector: Bernhard Fügenschuh, former vice-rector of the University of Innsbruck and professor of geology, will take over the post on October 1.
As reported several times, the University of Salzburg has been looking for a successor to Hendrick Lehnert for more than a year, who initially applied for the post again, but finally had enough after a long hiccup and a new advertisement. Since October last year, the university has been led by Vice-Rector Martin Weichbold on an interim basis.
