Latin, Greek: Central A-levels enter the final

Two weeks after the start, the 2024 central A-levels will enter the final on Thursday. However, things will only get serious for a small proportion of the approximately 41,300 school leavers: Only around 2,300 young people will write their exam in Latin. According to the Ministry of Education, only 22 examination booklets were ordered for Ancient Greek. 

Students with a "Nicht Genügend" on the written Matura, who still have a five even after the annual grade has been taken into account, can correct this in the compensation exam on June 3 or 4.

Oral Matura from June
Things get serious again for all Matura students at the oral Matura, which is staggered depending on the school. Unlike most written exams, the questions are not set centrally, but by the respective teacher. The grade for the year is also taken into account here. The first dates for the oral school-leaving examinations are scheduled for the beginning of June.

The "big" subjects of mathematics, English and German, which are compulsory for everyone, have already been tested in the two weeks beforehand. Pre-scientific papers, however, are threatened with an imminent end "thanks" to artificial intelligence.
