The strawberry harvest starts earlier than usual this year

On average, every Austrian eats 3.6 kilograms of strawberries per year. This year it could be far more, because the low-calorie slimmers are already ready to be eaten. Three weeks earlier than usual. Here you can find out why and why you should go for it. 

The most commonly grown and highest-yielding fruit in Austria is the apple, but strawberries are already in second place. The red fruit, of which there are around 20 varieties and numerous hybrid forms, grows on around 1100 hectares of land across the country. Almost 70 of these are cultivated by 40 strawberry farmers in Burgenland.
