Presentation was a success
Zell sold itself as the perfect location
Zell am See presented itself from its best side at the first international ice hockey match in 28 years. Coaches and players raved about the mountain town.
"The atmosphere was incredible. The fans gave us the final push," beamed Ian Scherzer after the 2:1 shootout win against Germany in Zell am See. The youngster, who played his way into the limelight with the team and will try his luck in North America next season, showered the entire region with roses: "We were very well received everywhere, it was a great service."
We had a good week and were very happy with what we found here. The hotel was great and the ice rink catered to our every wish
Teamchef Roger Bader
Team boss Roger Bader echoed this sentiment: "We had a good week and were very happy with what we found here. The hotel was great and the ice rink fulfilled our every wish."
Patrick Schwarz, Managing Director of the Zell Eisbären, is naturally delighted with the praise: "It was a sensational return of the national team to Zell. This is of course an honor and a nice confirmation." The mountain town sold itself as the perfect location. "It was very important for the region, but also for us as a club, that we were able to present ourselves in this way," says the EKZ boss, delighted. So nothing stands in the way of Team Austria making a comeback in Pinzgau.
